I'm Madan, a veterinarian, disease researcher and educator based in Nepal

I work with livestock and companion animal populations, from collecting samples in the field to analysing them in R, SPSS and QGIS. I teach diploma-level agriculture students, and I explain technical findings clearly to scientists, farmers and communities alike.

Experience

Instructor and principal investigator

Animal Science Instructor since 2026, and principal investigator on two grant-funded studies on canine distemper and Toxoplasma gondii.

Focus

One Health and field epidemiology

Zoonotic disease surveillance, livestock and dairy animal health, food safety, and technical training and extension.

Good data starts in the field, and good science reaches the people who can use it.

Diseases do not stop at species lines. Neither should the science.

Field-first research

I design surveys, work with local communities to collect samples and demographic data, and carry the work through to laboratory testing and statistical analysis.

Teaching what I practice

In the classroom I teach livestock health management, zoonoses and food safety, and I handle exam coordination and records across two faculties.

Research and teaching that start with real animals and real communities

Three studies across western Nepal on viral, parasitic and bacterial threats to animal and public health, alongside my work in the classroom.

A survey of canine distemper virus in the buffer zone of Bardiya National Park, engaging local communities in sample and data collection, with serum tested by ELISA. Published in BMC Veterinary Research.
